Sanborn Circularity Center

About the project

The Sanborn Circularity Center in Sanborn, Iowa, is a “new build” anaerobic digester on the Legacy Dairy Farm in Osceola County. The methane released from manure is captured, cleaned, and converted into renewable natural gas utilizing three digesters. The gas can be used as transportation fuel, industrial heating, and a host of other applications. Sanborn is part of the third tranche of projects developed under the Brightmark RNG Holdings LLC joint venture with Chevron U.S.A. Inc.

GHG REDUCTIONS

This project reduces emissions by an average of over 71,000 tons of CO2eq annually. That is equivalent to planting more than 85,000 acres of forest per year.

RESOURCE RECOVERY

The process of recovering and processing manure from the farms prevents excess emissions from escaping into the local air and water.

WASTE TO NEW PRODUCTS

The center generates renewable natural gas every year. Other renewable products supported by the center include fertilizer and irrigation water.
