“If you care about someone, and you got a little love in your heart, there ain’t nothing you can’t get through together.” – Ted Lasso
Lately, I’ve been pondering about why specific individuals choose to take the road less traveled. It’s arguably a more difficult path to follow—with various unknown challenges that lay in the wake of success. What makes it even more complicated? There is rarely an instruction manual that comes along with it. Some may compare it to building a house without having the proper blueprints—how does one get started without the instructions?
Nonetheless, taking the road less traveled is what many of us choose to do every single day. Why? Well, for one thing, solving problems is what some of us live for. It’s an innate part of our being, motivating us to fix the world’s most complex issues—fulfilling a bigger purpose than ourselves. Furthermore, one particular element makes the unbeaten path feel a little more worn—not conquering the path alone.
As humans, we are social creatures by nature, and when we put our heads together to accomplish a unified goal, mountains can be moved. This is not to say there aren’t challenges in a team environment because challenges will always exist. But what can be duly noted about conquering challenges as a team is the shared blood, sweat, and tears that go into building something fantastic together—to reach a pivotal point of success. And when that happens, it calls for a glorious celebration. And what better way to celebrate than with those who shared that journey with you? Success should not be celebrated alone, but with those you cherish most, in this case, your team.
You may have heard it said—sometime in your life—that “teamwork makes the dream work.” While this phrase can seem trivial and overused, the sentiment is a genuine testament to how we at Brightmark choose to operate. When I look around me, I am so inspired by the group gathered here at Brightmark. We do not accomplish our goals alone, but as one entity with one mission, one goal—to “Reimagine Waste.”
No one is here because it is easy. No one is here because we know what the finish line looks like. We are doing something that has never been done before. Nonetheless, we are here supporting each other, pushing through the challenges, and staying united because we know that together we are stronger. I couldn’t be more proud of our team and the teamwork we are fostering.
I remain optimistic about what we will create together and can’t wait to see what the future holds. Seize the day, my friends; there is not a day to waste.
